What can academic/life coaching do for my teen?Children learn many things in school, including a few nontraditional soft skills that can enhance their growth and development. But how much are they actually invested and engaged in their own success? Much of what they do is done because they are told to do it, and that's not all bad. But the beginnings of independence and self-reliance spring from a personal investment in getting the outcome one desires.
This is where life coaching comes in handy.
Life coaching has been on a growth trend for the past couple of decades, primarily catering to adults and their life pursuits. But lately, there has been a new focus put toward tweens and teens as they prepare to enter their adult years, and it's proving to be quite effective for those who engage themselves in the process. Still a little hazy on how academic/life coaching can be of service to your teen? Here are just a few benefits to consider:
- Gives the tween/teen breathing room to try, fail, and learn without fear of judgment or criticism
- Encourages him/her to start taking responsibility for where their life choices will lead them
- Builds confidence and self-esteem
- Causes him/her to rise up and meet challenges
- Helps him/her to devise reasonable expectations of themselves
- Inspires a sense of value, achievement and satisfaction as self-imposed objectives are designed, steps are made, and goals are reached
At Mamaversity Checkpoint, we set an atmosphere of guidance through collaboration, both with coaches and peers. We've found that when tweens and teens are given a voice, it's amazing how many fantastic ways they learn to use it to solve problems, explore options, and cast vision for their own future.
